Industry Specific ComplianceThe University Grants Commission (UGC) on July 27, 2026, notified regarding the Strict Implementation of UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.

It has directed all Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to strictly comply with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, notified pursuant to the Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dated May 8, 2009, in Civil Appeal No. 887/2009. Institutions shall constitute effective anti-ragging bodies, prominently display the 24×7 toll-free anti-ragging helpline 1800-180-5522, ensure submission of student and parent anti-ragging undertakings through the prescribed portal, and conduct awareness, counselling and sensitisation programmes. They are also required to maintain vigilance in hostels and other vulnerable areas, promptly address complaints, protect complainants and report cases promptly. Where a prima facie case of ragging is established, institutions shall ensure immediate FIR registration and disciplinary action. UGC has emphasised zero tolerance towards ragging and directed institutions to ensure compliance by affiliated colleges under their jurisdiction.
